A kick in the right direction!
So i had a really busy weekend! i worked sat morning and sunday afternoon at Tesco, worked saturday night (8pm till 1am) at the golf club, i went to church twice on Sunday, both services were about Narnia and similarities to the Bible! twas really interesting! on saturday afternoon my aunt Helene, Uncle Jim, and my cousins Daniel and Craig were round! It was really really good to catch up with them! and i hate to say it, but my cousins have grown up so much (which is bad for me to say since im only like 4 and 7 years older than them!)
Monday was back to Studying (and a shift at Tesco!) before i started to study this morning in the library, i thought 'i have a bible in my bag, i'll read a psalm, but which psalm should i read?' One of the books that i had out of the library had the number 428.07 on it, so i decided to read psalm 28! when i turned to it, this is the psalm i found! (and also doubles as my verse for the blog!)
Psalm 28 A Prayer for Troubled Times
1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I shall be like those who have gone down to the pit.
2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands towards your Most Holy Place.
3Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbours but harbour malice in their hearts.
4 Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back upon them what they deserve.
5 Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again.
6Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
8The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
9 Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them for ever
I read the title 'A Prayer for Troubled Times' and laughed, will my exams really be that bad? course not, coz (another little singsong!) 'God is on our side, who can be against us? thought mountains may fall and the skies will crumble, there ain't nothing gonna stand in our way!' (The lyrics are from Chris Tomlin's song 'God is on our Side'.)
I'm going to leave you with with the last verse from the song.
Come on down to the riverside
Wash it all away
Leave behind your troubled mind
For an uncloudy day
Nothing's gonna separate us from the Father's love
I can't help but celebrate
'Cause we're not alone
